Brief
History and Explanation Netball was introduced to England by a Dr. Toles who visited Madame Osterberg's PT College. He introduced a game where goals or points were scored by shooting balls into waste paper baskets. By 1897, Netball was being played on grass fields throughout the United Kingdom. In 1986, Netball was accepted as a demonstration sport at the Commonwealth Games in Aukland, New Zealand. The match marked the entry of the sport into the Commonwealth Games movement and will culminate in Netball's inclusion in the 1998 XVI Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. |
